Blobber Privacy Policy

Blobber is a screen-time companion that helps you seal distracting apps away. This policy explains what data Blobber handles, where it lives, and what never leaves your phone. The short version: your screen-time data stays on your device. We can't see which apps you use, what you browse, or what you type — and we designed Blobber so we never could.

1. What stays on your device (and only on your device)

• App usage and Screen Time data. Blobber uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Device Activity, Managed Settings). All usage information — which apps you open, for how long, your reports, your sleep estimates — is processed entirely on your device by Apple's system. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Apple's design makes this technically impossible: Blobber's own servers cannot even identify which apps you selected.
• The apps you choose to block. Your app selections are stored as anonymous, device-bound tokens that only your phone can interpret. They are never uploaded.
• Attention reports. Generated on-device inside a sandboxed extension that has no network access, by Apple's rules.

2. What syncs to the cloud (so your progress survives)

To let your progress survive a reinstall or a new phone, Blobber keeps a small backup in Google Cloud Firestore, tied to an account created for you automatically (see Section 3):

• The name you told Blob (optional) and your chosen mascot look, color theme, and settings toggles
• Your rules' structure only — schedule times, daily-limit minutes, open-limit counts, and the location and radius of zones you created. Never the apps inside them.
• Your streak days (dates on which Blobber blocked something) and focus-session records (start/end times, planned length, completion)
• Whether you completed onboarding

This data is protected by per-user security rules: only your authenticated account can read or write your record.

3. Your account

Blobber creates an anonymous account automatically — no email, no password, no sign-up screen. It's a random identifier stored in your device keychain.

Sign in with Apple is optional. If you use it, it links your anonymous account to your Apple ID so your data can follow you across devices. We receive only the identifier Apple provides (and your name, only if you choose to share it). We never see your Apple ID password.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipt and an app-specific user identifier — never your payment details, which stay with Apple.
